Aylestone Ward Councillor Nigel Porter has questioned why the Francis Bacon painting "Lying Figure No 1" owned by Leicester City Council is not on display for the public to view at Leicester Museums and Galleries.

Cllr Porter said "Where is the value in having such a significant art work buried in some basement. If no one can view the piece then the Labour Council might as well sell it off to an organisation or someone who is able to put it on display. The cash from the sale could be used to address the housing emergency or the cost of living crisis.

Labour don't know their Art from their elbow."

Besides the Leicester Mercury bringing the discussion to local attention, the story has had a wider audience with the BBC, Party President Mark Pack's Newswire and International Art Magazine, Art News.
