Election Results ()

Well done to everyone elected on Thursday, amazing net gains of 189 councillors, more gains by far than any other party and gaining in England, Scotland and Wales.

There are too many places who did amazingly to list in this short email, but Somerset (up 37), St Albans (up 20), Westmorland and Furness (up 13), Merton (up 12) and Powys (up 10) lead the pack.

We successfully defended all our majority run councils (Cheltenham, Three Rivers, Eastleigh, Winchester, Mole Valley, South Cambs, St Albans, Watford (including the Elected Mayor - winning in the first round with 55%) Sutton, Richmond and Kingston.

We gained control of Hull, Woking and Gosport and stonking victories in the new Westmorland & Furness and Somerset Councils.

Well done too to our Alliance Party friends who are having such an amazing set of results in the Northern Ireland Assembly election.

This is a great election result for the Liberal Democrats.
