The Green Flag Award

The Green Flag Award

Four of Leicesters parks have won prestigious national Green Flag awards.

The Green Flag awards, which rate the standard of parks across the UK, were won by Abbey Park, Evington Park, Knighton Park and Aylestone Hall Park, which has won the award for the first time.

The 2006/7 awards will be presented to the city council at a ceremony in Birmingham on August 3.

Cllr Roger Blackmore, Leader of the City Council said, "With 4 Green Flags again awarded to City Parks this year the increased investment in parks introduced by the Lib Dem led administration is clearly delivering results. This administration is committed to raising the standard of all of Leicesters parks and open spaces, well done to all those who have worked hard for these awards."
