Campaign to Stop Planning Application

Stop

Local residents are calling upon their community to help try and put a stop to a proposal by the City Council to build nine houses on the disused garage site

Local residents are calling upon their community to help try and put a stop to a proposal by the City Council to build nine houses on the disused garage site located behind Heather Road, Sutton Road, Knighton Lane East and Aston Hill.

Lib Dem Councillor Dale Keeling who is backing their campaign said, "We all agree that we need more housing in the city, but this is the wrong location, I believe this area would be overdeveloped." He went on to say, "I feel when dealing with a local authority that is putting forward a planning application, residents have the odds stacked up against them. The council have the expertise from their planning department and legal department if needed, residents do not have that expert backing and to make it worse, residents are actually paying for the Council to have that support through council tax."

Local people are also concerned with the increase of traffic in that area that is already being used as a rat run.

If you wish to object to the planning application, please write to: Mrs. McShane, Planning Management & Delivery, A8, New Walk Centre, Leicester City Council, Welford Place, Leicester, LE1 6ZG or email: planning@leicester.gov.uk quoting Planning Application number 2009130 by 6th November 2009.
