MAXI WASTE - New Recycling Centre Update

December 15, 2009 11:21 AM
Simon Sansome

Campaigner, Simon Sansome spoke on BBC Radio Leicester apposing the recycling centre because it is to close to residents and a local primary school.

Liberal Democrat campaigner Simon Sansome held a public meeting in local pub 'Tom Hoskins' regarding the Maxi Waste new recycling centre on Wesley Street.

Local resident, Mrs Buckley, organised a petition of 116 signatures opposing the recycling centre, which was given planning permission by the Labour controlled City Council.

Since the public meeting Simon Sansome has appeared on BBC Radio Leicester apposing the recycling centre because it is to close to residents and a local primary school. Simon presented a petition to the Town Hall asking for a review of the planning permission given by the Labour run Council. 116 residents of Thurcaston Road, Beaumanor Road and Robert Hall Street signed the Petition.

The authorisation of the planning permission was reviewed and Leicester City Council has given authorisation for Maxi Wasted to continue with the recycling centre.

On a better note Leicester City Council has agreed that Maxi Waste will not be using Beaumanor Road as a short cut to the recycling centre. If Maxi waste does use Beaumanor Road they will face and fine or further investigation if it continues. If anyone does see a Maxi Waste truck on Beaumanor Road please take the vehicle number plate and pass the information to Simon Sansome who will make an official complaint on local residents behalf.
