20 Years of Focus in Western Park

Western Park Focus still going strong after 20 years.
It was exactly twenty years back in 1988 that five Lib Dem members living in the Hinckley Road and Western Park area of Leicester decided to start publication of a community newsletter, FOCUS
Twenty years on and 140 editions later Focus is still going strong delivered regularly to all households in the Western Park area.
Its content includes local news and community information plus details of various community actions and local campaigns. Prominent amongst the latter in the early nineties was the battle to save Western Park from the controversial Eco Zoo development. More recently Focus has featured campaigns to save the Gimson Villas on Glenfield Rd and less successfully the fight to stop the closure of the much used Henley Road Post Office.
Today's leading Focus editors include local Lib Dem ward councillors Roger Blackmore and Peter Coley both of whom were founder members of the Focus team twenty years ago.
