Western Park Lib Dem councillor, Peter Coley, has been selected to fight for Leicester West in the next General Election.

Peter said, "I was born and brought up in Leicester West and my family have lived here for several generations. My wife and I have lived in the Western park area for the past 25 years and brought up our children here, all of whom attended local schools.

I have been a councillor for Western Park Ward for the past 16 years and care passionately about this city so I relish the prospect of representing the constituency which is my home"

Many people who voted Labour at local or National elections are now realising that they actually got less than they bargained for. Liberal Democrats have got well thought out and practical policies which can make Britain a fairer, greener place.

With your support we can make huge changes for the better, lower the tax burden on the less well off, increase the life chances for our children and make good Health care a right for everyone irrespective of age or post code to highlight just a few of our plans.

………………………………………………………………………………………….

People can now see "New Labour" for what they really are. Locally they made numerous promises, to improve the streets, They said they would keep council tax down, that they would provide "affordable, comfortable public transport" that they would provide "a laptop for every 7 year old at school". What has really happened is very different, The first thing they did was give themselves a huge pay increase, nearly 50% more for some and then Labour set one of the highest council tax rises in the country which their leader is on record as saying "is reasonable". Labour promised better bus services but actually just cut the subsidy for uneconomic routes. The promise they made to improve the streets is clear for all to see, utter chaos! And whatever happened to the computer for each 7 yr old?

For those of you who work for the Council you will be aware that they have completely failed to deliver a fair equal pay scheme which was initiated and funded by the Lib-Dems but mismanaged and is still being delayed by Labour.

Looking at the national picture things are not much better, the Labour government is intent on spending billions on identity cards whereas for the same money we could have an extra 10,000 police on the beat…which do you think would stop more crime?
