Minimum Rise in Council Tax

Council tax in the Leicestershire area have risen by 2.9% overall - a figure which includes the fire authorities 5% tax rise. This means that local council tax has been risen in line with inflation for the second year running, reflecting the Liberal-Democrat led council's commitment to providing an efficient service that gives the best possible value for money.
Council leader Roger Blackmore said that he felt the council were "delievering a tax rise that is amongst the lowest in the country by effectively reviewing the way we provide services and making significant efficiency savings".
In order to minimise the tax rise the council has had to changed many of its policies and working practices - for example a strict recycling programme has been implemented throughout all council buildings and many local services have been amalgamated.
The increase for different bands will be -
- Band A will see an increase of £23.33
- Band B properties will have to pay £27.22 more
- Band C face a £31.10 increase
- Band D has an increase of £35
- Band E properties will be increasing by £42.77
- Band F has an increase of £50.56
- Band G faces a £58.33 increase
- Band H properties will be increased by £69.99 a year.
