The Sure Start Nursery based at New Parks Leisure Centre has won an award for the event it held during National Family Learning Week last October.

Over 130 people attended the event, which gave families taster sessions in sports including swimming and in the gym.

Ward Councillor Trish Beck said: " I am really happy to hear that the New Parks Sure Start nursery has won the award for Best Sport and Fitness Event. This highlights the excellent work that is being done by the Liberal Democrat led council and its partners to ensure that local children have a happy and healthy start to life"

The awards are part of the national Family Learning Week. This scheme aims to attract families to try new activities together.
